I am using a dell 8400 3.4 hgz 1g ram geforce 6800 card. THis problem is
new. It did not do this before. When I go to my tv - recorded tv- and
choose a file it attempts to find the file and comes back with a corrupt file
message and asks if I want to keep it or delete it.

Chris,
Can you try opening the files in Media Player? The default location for Recorded TV is Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Recorded TV
