I'm building an XPe image on a standalone hard-disc, with the eventual aim of sticking it on a Flash IDE disc. The build boots fine until I try to add EWF (Reg Ram mode). I followed all MS' instuction to the letter, but on the second and consecutive boots after the FBA has run I get:

"A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer
....
Technical information:
*** STOP: 0x0000007B(0xF789E524,0xC000000E,0x00000000,0x00000000)"

Any help gratefully received.

I fixed the problem after a lot of hair pulling - I've had all sorts of prob
lems installing EWF-
Stop 7B
Black screen with cursor on booting when only the XPe build disc is on the machine
...and all sorts of others I can't remember.

The solution:
I've always had XP including the XP builder on C: and the target disc for my
build on D:. In target settings in builder I've used D:\Windows etc. This w
orks fine only when you first boot XPe as the 2nd disc - but then this disc
will fail when you stick it on the system as the only (primary) disc. The an
swer is to stick all your build settings as if the disc you are building to
is C:, so C:\Windows, arc path of ..rdisk(0)partition(1) for EWF and boot
path, but when you click build target the build at D:. Now stick you XPe bui
ld on as the only disc on the system and boot from it. It will be recognised
as C: now and all the target paths are correct. No worries!

I know all this will be glaringly obvious to a lot of people, but if it caus
ed me all those headaches, I'm sure it could for someone else.

Happy building.....
