Floppy, hard disk and defrag problems |
|
|
hi there,
Just a few problems that require some support from u all. Will try to keep my post short and neat as possible.Pls give me some advice.
1) I've encountered this problem a few times with different pcs and its bugging me rather. My floppy disks can't be detected when i click on my a: drive and gives a prompt "Pls insert a disk to drive a:(which i've already done)...or drive a: is not formatted",thus im unable to access my data in the floppy.Im unalso unable to use the floppy to boot up my system. The status shown in device manager is ok and i've tried the same exact floppy on an older win98 pc and have no problem accessing it.
2) I used to defrag my system quite often and was successful.however recently after defragment it prompts "some files could not be move..." and could not defrag 100% as before. Any idea what can be the cause and solution?
3) i suspect a few sectors of my harddisk are bad. As when i tried opening partition magic for example,it prompts that certain sectors are bad and ask if i wana fix it,and also because of the unsuccessful 100% defrag of files as in q2). How can i check and fix it?
Just for info as to what ive recently done to my system. I have fixed the mbr by using win98 to boot up and using fdisk/mbr.Due to the reason that i wana get my ntldr back as im having a dual boot system before.
my system hardware :
p4 3.2
i875 chipset
1 single SATA hd
1GB RAM
1 floppy drive and 1 cdrom
(currently have 1 primary partition with winxp,1 extended partition (which within contains free space and a ntfs logical drive for data),and another primary partition for data.)
please advice. |
