QFE, October 28 |

I've downloaded the October 28, 2005 QFE for SP2 and found an .img file.
How do I install the QFE? |

Hi,
you would need the Desktop QFE installer component, in order to install this
to XPE, if it's a Windows XP Professional QFE... if it's a Component Patch,
you would need to extract the img file, and apply Component updates...
if you poke in the google archives, you will see programs that will extract
..img files.

I feel like I'm missing something crucial in this discussion.
"JC" says "you would need the Desktop QFE installer component, in order to
install this to XPE, if it's a Windows XP Professional QFE... if it's a
Component Patch, you would need to extract the img file, and apply Component
updates...". But how do you know which it is ?
"MS" says "Use Magic ISO program to extract the exe file from img". But how
do you know there's an exe file inside the img ?
All the other SP2 QFEs (Aug 31 2005, July 13 2005, etc.) provide an
executable and some RTF instructions. Then the QFE of Oct 28 2005 provides a
".img" file instead - and no instructions whatsoever. So how do you know
what you're supposed to do with it ?
Thanks
