like Cari said.. if you deleted them from the recycle bin it is going t
be hard to get them back.
There are companies that can restore erased files, but usually it
expensive and they only take care of "important files". I'm sure yo
wouldn't want to spend some money recovering your music, while you ca
download it again.
To prevent this from happening in the future, you could create a folde
out of the Kaaza main folder (or whatever program you're using). Tha
way it won't delete the files if you uninstall the program, as th
files are safe in c:\mp3s (for example..

Professional recovery services usually charge from about $2,000 and up so if
someone isn't going to actually buy music but just download from Kazaa, I
think it highly doubtful that they'll pay for recovery of said music!!!
Now that may just be the cynic in me, but somehow I feel finances may be the
primary issue here. If the OP had the $2,000 they might actually go out and
buy legal copies of the MP3s in question!!

Nope, not necessarily. The original poster could always try this. It's
certainly worked for me in the past:

Unlikely. He's installed more software since the delete. If you go the
software method, it's almost essential to do it as soon as possible.
Anyway, he'll now be re-downloading them through Limwire, so he'll get them
all back (and probably a whole load more) in time.

The hyperlink (URL) Cari refers to has an excellent program but it is not
cheap.
The free Demo will show if any of the files are still on your harddrive but
will
NOT let you restore them unless you buy the program. You can try the below
free program, download it to a floppy disk or a CD and run it from there so
it will
not overwrite any of your deleted files.
Free Download - Restoration 2.5.14

It wasn't Cari that referred to it, it was me. And whether it's cheap
depends on what value people place on their data.

Yep, that's correct.
I haven't tried it, but yes, an early pointer to that may have helped the
original poster.

But was the original poster aware that "deleting" items from the recycle bin
meant that they were really still there? That if nothing was installed or
copied to the drive, the files could have been completely recovered? Nothing
in your reply suggested that this was possible.
Rather than saying "sorry, it's gone", and for the benefit of others, I
think it might have helped to advise the poster that files can be recovered
(even if Microsoft don't include a method of doing this when someone buys
Windows).

Deleted file recovery |
|
|
After the recycle bin is emptied (and even after reformatting) there is a very good chance of retrieving files.
The main problem is overwiting with new data, so its best to try recovery as soon as possible if you want to get 100% back.
To be honest its probably quicker to download the music again (keep a file listing of you mp3s).
Recovery
As you already use p2p software then download recovery software for fr**.
There are several but I like "Ontrack Easyrecovery Pro". It will get stuff back after being deleted or after formating a drive - you would be surprised how much data is readable after deletion/format.
