Hi,
I have MCE 2005, and the only problem I'm having with it is that all
french accented characters are not displaying properly in the program
guide.

For example, the EAcute(é) is always displaying as a comma, the
EGrave(è) as a SCaron(Š)...

Anybody has an idea of how I can fix this?

TIA

Charles

Bonjour Charles,

I have noticed this today as well. This was a problem in the past but I'm
pretty sure it was fixed. I have already brought this up with some folks at
Microsoft, but you can file a report at
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/mediacenter/using/guidesubmit.mspx

Hi Chris,

I read this thread a couple of days ago without posting, just waiting for
11/1 for an improvement on that problem that I am also experiencing.

Unfortunately, today 11/2 I still have the same problem. I tried to
reinitialize the guide without improvement. I don't see any patch on
download.microsoft.com.

Hi Folks,

I have good news and (kind of) Bad news about this.

Bad News: The cause of this has a larger impact than just the accented
characters being changed. Testing and Quality assurance has not signed off
on the solution. We will not be rolling out the solution until a full test
pass is done and all parties involved have signed off on it.

Good News: We know the cause and have a solution that is not only under
development but has the fix already done and checked in for testing. What
this means is that the issue is server side, not client so you will not
need to download any patches. It also means that I'm doing something right
with your feedback as everyone agrees its important.

Hi,
I have MCE 2005, and the only problem I'm having with it is
that
all
french accented characters are not displaying properly in the
program
guide.

For example, the EAcute(é) is always displaying as a comma,
the
EGrave(è) as a SCaron(S)...

Anybody has an idea of how I can fix this?

TIA

Hi Folks,

I have good news and (kind of) Bad news about this.

Bad News: The cause of this has a larger impact than just the accented
characters being changed. Testing and Quality assurance has not signed
off
on the solution. We will not be rolling out the solution until a full
test
pass is done and all parties involved have signed off on it.

Good News: We know the cause and have a solution that is not only under
development but has the fix already done and checked in for testing.
What
this means is that the issue is server side, not client so you will not
need to download any patches. It also means that I'm doing something
right
with your feedback as everyone agrees its important.

Thank you for the feedback!

Hi,

I still have that problem too. Are you going to release a patch or fix
something on your side? Thank you.

Hi Chris,

I read this thread a couple of days ago without posting, just waiting
for
11/1 for an improvement on that problem that I am also experiencing.

Unfortunately, today 11/2 I still have the same problem. I tried to
reinitialize the guide without improvement. I don't see any patch on
download.microsoft.com.

Hi,
I have MCE 2005, and the only problem I'm having with it is
that
all
french accented characters are not displaying properly in the
program
guide.

For example, the EAcute(é) is always displaying as a comma,
the
EGrave(è) as a SCaron(S)...

Anybody has an idea of how I can fix this?

TIA

Charles

I assume if it's a server side problem, then one day it'll just Start
