Hello,
I'm running an XPe SP2 build with a custom shell and full Windows
login. I want to be able to use Remote Desktop to control the machine
remotely with a special administrative login and a different shell.

My problem is that the machine doesn't behave as I expect; I have to
manually log out (actually since it's a custom shell I use
shutdown.exe) in order for rdp to work. With XP Pro the current user
is locked out immediately and the remote login takes control.

Does anyone know what I have to do to make this work?

I've never had to make TS do the behavior of "always accept TS session" so I
don't know off of the top of my head. You might be able to find out if that
functionality is valid in one of the following newsgroups:

-microsoft.public.windowsnt.terminalserver.client
-microsoft.public.windowsnt.terminalserver.misc
-microsoft.public.windowsnt.terminalserver.setup
-microsoft.public.windowsnt.terminalserver.user

I don't see any WindowsXP -> RemoteDesktop groups so I'd venture to guess
that these are going to be your highest chance groups.

Thanks Nick.

I think this points in the right direction. Actually both of the users
are administrators. And since I have Error Message Instruement's
EnableDefaultReply setup, it sounds like the dialog is getting
cancelled out.

Is there a policy that controlls this or am I going to need to write
and install a message filter?

Hi Glenn -

If the user who is trying to log on VIA RDC is an administrator and the user
who is logged on VIA the console (locally) is a "User" (*NOT* and
administrator) then they shouldn't be provided with the choice of whether or
not to let the administrator to log on. If the console user is an
Administrator then they should be provided with a dialog explaining that
your user is attempting to log on and would the user like to allow the
remote user to log on or not. (a yes/no buttoned dialog) So if you ensure
that the local user is nothing more than a user (apart of the users
localgroup and not any other group) and the user you're logging in with VIA
RDC is apart of the localgroup administrators then you should be fine.
Otherwise it's a possibility that the admin who is logged in VIA the console
denied your entry VIA RDC.

If you're sure you're doing all of the above I'll try a test run here to see
if I can reproduce your behavior and file a bug if I do see what you are
describing.
