I cannot get the software to install on my HP 7760 printer. I get the
error message setup\ hpzmsi01.exe hpins02.dat-validateNO-W393724
I called HP support and they advised me to manually install the
drivers. I did this and the printer icon is now in the system tray and
the printer works fine. The problem is that when I restart my computer
Windows will not load with the usb cable plugged in. I must unplug the
cable and manually turn off the pc and restart it. This is a new HP
media center pc with Windows XP Media Center 2005. I have tried
different ports but to no avail. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

It seems to me that both are HP products. Therefore, HP should know more
about your problem than just about anyone else.
If their printer and their PC will not work together, that's really bad.

There may be a problem with the USB port hardware or software, or perhaps
the printer is loading the USB port excessively.
Have you looked at the hp support web site for this printer? And any support
info that is PC model specific?
Does the printer work properly on another PC?
Did you check for new drivers?
From the amount of information on the website concerning problems with this
printer, there have been more than the usual problems with the printer
drivers and installation.
