I want to transfer all info from my small hard drive (28 gig) to my new
hard drive (152 gig) because my 28 is filled close to capacity. how can I
make the big drive my master and the small,my slave?Or is it more feasible
to take the small out altogether and just use the big drive?I tried to drag
and drop from the small to the big but and NTUSER kept coming up? I don't
want to lose my pictures and music, any help will do.Thank You.

Its quite simple, after, format current C: drive use as storage and as new xp
page file. However,to transfer, set new as slave on same IDE cable, format the
drive,then go to run,type:XCOPY C:\*.* D:\ /c/h/e/k/r Agree to all in the
DOS
window,when its thru,its completed.Shutdown,power off,switch the jumper
pins on hds, start computer. Also,D: being new drive,if given diffrent
letter,then
use that instead.

It's up to you how you want to use your new drive. No mention if they are
both the same RPM or if one is faster. If you're using a desktop or a
laptop.

Assuming desktop and that the drives are the same speed, what you could do
is add the new one as a secondary drive. Move data to it. Maybe even
uninstall some programs from the old drive, then reinstall them on the new
drive. That will give the "operating system drive" some breathing room and
keep data separate from the operating system drive.

If the new drive is faster, you may want to transfer the operating system
to it. Check the website for the brand/model hard drive. You can download
the current version of transfer tools from there. Directions for use will
be at the website or in the download package. If this sounds scary at all,
go back to plan A above. If you decide to give it a go -- once the new
drive is setup, once again it is up to you whether you want to use one
drive or two -- decide whether you want to have the extra 28GB of storage
available or not.
