Upon booting, computer sometimes freezes on screen "WWW.Dell |
|
|
The problem occurs only about one out of eight times and thus far it
eventually changes to the signin screen by itself. But the most recent
occurance hung it up for hours. Rebooting doesn't help, nor any combination
of keystrokes. The problem seems to occur whether I shut down the computer or
let it go into hibernation mode.
The computer is a Dell Dimension 4100 desktop system with Intel Pentium II,
863 mhz, 512 mb RAM. The problem only began after I upgraded from Windows ME
to XP pro. with servicepack 2 this year.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated. |

Why do you have a www.dell.com screen? Do you make it to the desktop and
the browser launches trying to open that site? Or do you mean something
else?
If the system is not making it to Windows and dell.com screen is the splash
covering up the BIOS diagnostic (POST) information, then your computer may
have a hardware problem as Windows has not even started loading at this
point of the boot process.
