I just got a new computer and it came with Windows XP Home Edition.

When I hook up my Canon A40 digital I get 2 dialogs one with camera wizard
and one without. This I guess is the norm.

What I want is to bypass these two and use the Canon software. Can someone
explain to me how to do this or is it even possible?

What Canon software are you reffering to?
You can try to hit "Cancel" on the camera wizard, then separately start the
"Canon Software"...
