I used to be able to move the slider on the player to jump over
sections and reposition itself and resume from there. This was only a
month ago. Has wmp10 changed something or am I the only one having this
problem. It no longer does that; it just jumps back to the beginning.
So I cannot skip commercials. Is this why they may have disabled the
slider? Have advertisers of tv shows complained that we can skip over
them? How do I fix this if this is unique to me? I have already
reinstalled several times; no difference. Even a movie I could slide
through before I can't any more. Any ideas?

You might want to check your MPEG2 decoders (some bad ones will do this).
This behaviour didn't change at all with WMP10.

You can use this app to see which MPEG2 decoder you are using.

I have checked; I am using the preferred decoder. I finally gave up and
looked for another player and recorder. Then I learned that play/record
dvd can be done right inside media center 2005 so I will try that and
see if there are any problems. did you ever fix the problem in wmp10?
I am on a mce 2004 now. I reformatted my other computer, a dell
dimension 8400 with mce 2005 on it. The wmp10 slider works fine. This
is before I go online and get any automatic updates to it. Still, no
subtitles in wmp10, even though selected.
