RealVNC Installer |
|
|
Hello all -
I'm trying to install Real VNC 4.1.1
When I try to install it on a typical XP Pro/Home machine I get the
following screen.
http://www.pages.drexel.edu/~mjr35/good.jpg
However, when I try to install it on my XPE build this is the screen I get.
Can anyone tell me why this is happening?
Thanks so much for the help.

That's cute - I've never seen that one before. At first glance, I would
have guessed that you have missing fonts. However, it seems to also not
want to show your graphic. Before going further, you might want to verify
that you have all of the various class installers/etc. in addition to the
windows installer service. It would also be interesting to see if their
install program has any dependencies (DLLs it wants to use - discoverable
from depends.exe) that don't exist on your system.

Gordon -
No dice, I used dependancy walker and made sure all the dll dep's were
satisfied. I also made sure I had all the class installers. I believe I
have them all, although I don't really know how to tell if I have all of
them. Any other ideas?

I beleive there is a Class Installer Macro to pull in all the
installers to your image.

Thanks, but no dice, already have it in the image. Again, I appreciate the
suggestion.

Unfortunately, this is a case where I'd have to have the bits and dig into
it to solve. Maybe others have already solved this one?

I had a similar problem when installing Sybase 9, I am trying to
recall How I resolved it. I think it was related to Fonts not being
available. |

I had a similar problem with a different installer. It went away when
I added some things, most notably Winows installer service.
I'm curious as to why you used RealVNC; unless you are using the pro
version the security for UltraVNC is much better... |

I agree glenn however it is an accepted application by my organization, |
it takes an act of god to get things accepted. Despite that, it is
still an issue, and windows installer service is included. |
