Local printer works in Win2K RDP client, not on XP Pro RDP c |

I have an XP Pro machine running Remote Desktop answering calls. Normally
only one client machine (Also XP Pro) connects to this one, but the client
has a Lexmark laser printer (E310). If I attempt to connect to the RDP
machine with the XP Pro client, the Lexmark printer does not appear in
Printers and Faxes.
RDP Help says I need to install the printer driver first, so I do so. I can
even specify the TS0001 port as the printer port for it. Fine, it works.
Once. Then this printer changes to LPT1 (there's no printer hooked up to
LPT1 on the RDP server) and never works again unless the port's changed.
Now I go and connect with another RDP client (the one you download for Win98
and later) and run it on a Windows 2000 machine. Not only does it connect
fine, but it also installs my printer (a HP 1100A) all by itself without any
prompting.
OK, so what's going on here? Does the RDP client on the XP Pro client
machine need an update?
