Hi there

I am using 2 external drives (zip and Iomega external drive with
partitions). From time to time the letters change, presumably when using the
card reader or removing the zip.

However it causes mayhem for my backup software when the path has changed.
My Zip drive had been assigned the letter T and I used the facility in Disk
Management and changed it to Z assuming it would stay. Next time I booted
it was O !

Can anybody help

Got this suggestion from another MVP:
"Try to mount drives in empty NTFS directory, without assigning letters."

The following web page contains the instructions for doing that.
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/dm_modify_access_path.mspx

Please let us know if this solves your problem. Thanks.
