I have a 98 HP computer, that I installed a New hard drive on. I re-installed
XP on it a few days ago, and gave it to my g/f to use. for a couple days, it
worked fine, but now the mouse and keyboard arent functioning properly. The
mouse doesnt respond, and the keyboard sounds a tone when a key is pressed. A
friend said the driver might not be updated, but its XP, it SHOULD be
updated, lol. Please help. My email address is

Try putting a very basic keyboard and mouse on the computer and see if it
recognizes them. If that works, go to the manufactures website for the
keyboard and mouse you are trying to use, then download and install the
latest drivers. Turn off the computer and re-attach the other keyboard and
mouse and try again.

I know chordless sets have to be installed this way.

What keyboard and mouse are you trying to use?
