Running windows XP home with service pack on a TOSHIBA laptop.
I tried to run an update for a program, and got the message that
the program was not able to access [windows installer service].
trying to run the full version of this program give the same
error message. Could someone please tell me how to resolve this
problem.

Joe, you may not have this windows installer service enabled. To do so do
the following.
Start< run<misconfig<enter<startup tab<enable the service you want. Windows
installer needs to be (Enable)
