I have attemted to install Windows XP Home Edition and have received a
message error 535FF5ch- When I go to support, technical support any where and
everywhere I get the answer ' 0 - They know nothing about this particular
error.
I am not highly impressed with Microsoft -

How have you attempted this install, what type of install, clean or over a
previous setup.

Before you tried to install, while at the desktop of your previous OS, did
you first place the XP CD in the drive and when the setup screen appeared
did you start by selecting "Check System Compatibility?" In moving to XP,
this is one of the most critical steps as it checks your hardware and
software for compatibility with XP. While not perfect or a guarantee of
success, it can often save a lot of time and effort in running down possible
causes of problems with installation. If you didn't do the above, I suggest
you do so. Many applications that were compatible with Windows 9x systems
are not compatible with XP; those include but are not limited to, CD burning
software, firewalls, antivirus applications and various disk utilities.

If you have not already done so, you should return to your previous setup,
including whatever applications you plan to run, then run the compatibility
wizard as outlined. Note, hardware drivers may also need to be updated and
various software bundles supplied with your hardware, especially for
printers and scanners may not be compatible with XP.
