Remote Control key Mapping |
|
|
For the experts,
Since my Microsoft OEM remote was DOA, I am remapping functions of MCE2005
onto a ATI remote wonder.
Would anyone know the path for the green arrow (back button) which is on the
upper left hand side of the MCE UI ?
TIA,
Jeff |

Hi Jeff,
if you mean the button to get one step back than it's BACKSPACE button.

I would also like to map MCE 2005 functions on to an ATI
Remote Wonder remote. Can you describe how to do this step
by step? I can use the numbers for channels but not much
else works. The channel up & down button doesn't even work.
Thanks in advance.

RE: Remote Control key Mapping |

I use a RW with MCE. You can find an MCE Extended Support Plug-In at
http://remotew.free.fr/plugins.htm. This will do most of the job. In addition
or instead, you can use the Remote Wonder Key Factory also available at the
same site. I use this to map the backspace key (goes back in the menu), the
channel guide and a few other keys. I also map the Power key and TV key using
the RW Key Master available from the RW Key Factory website. This latter item
is a bit confusing - RW Key Factory is a plug in for the ATI RW program, but
RW Key Master (which needs to be used if you want to map special keys like
Power, TV, DVD, etc) is a separate little application. I use both RW Key
Master and the RW Key Factory plugin.
To map keys, you need to find the list of MCE shortcut keys. I can't
remember exactly where this is found (I'm not on my MCE computer right now)
but I think they are listed under the Windows accessibility options, or in
one of the Windows help files. Do a google for Media Center Edition keyboard
shortcuts if you can't find them, or search in this newsgroup.
