My TV missing |
|
|
Very new to this thing and quite possibly right in front of me but can't see
it. Looked and read as much as I could but think set up instructions a
little lacking. I do not have My TV in MCE 2005 menu. When I go to set up,
it says tv tuner malfunctioning or not found. Never had a option to install
one though I do have a TV tuner card functioning in PC (MY HD card) and watch
OTA channels so I know it is there and working. What am I missing?
Any help or direction would be great. Thanks |

Hi TPK,
is your current TV-Tuner a MCE compatible one? Which TV-Tuner do you use?
Maybe it's a driver issue.

Assuming that your TV card is the ATI HDTV Wonder which is the only HDTV card
supported in MCE then you need in addition a regular analogue capture card e.g.
Hauppauge WinTV PVR 250. Choose from this list

Ah ha! Maybe getting somewhere. My graphics card is ATI 9700 Pro and tv
tuner is a MIT MYHD MDP-120 HDTV PCI Tuner card. Should have been clearer in
original post (MY HD card). Of course I checked your referal and it is not in
there. Guess I'm stuck for time being or go out and buy another card. I
have the latest drivers for both graphics card and tv tuner card. Just wish
there was an easier way to find this stuff out like in the manual. Thanks
for the quick replies.

I only got my Dim. 8400 with MCE this past week, so I'm no expert. But, while
I have TV in my menu, it continued to tell me that no cable TV signal was
detected. Trying it manually it told me that the tuner was being used by
another application. After being on the phone with Dell for over an hour,
(mostly on hold), I was told that AOL Instant Messenger was the culprit. It
takes over the tv tuner. If you have AOL Instant Messenger, I'm afraid
you'll need to remove this program. Perhaps future versions of Messenger
will fix this problem. Once the program was deleted, I was able to set up
the tv just fine.
