I noticed a problem using the ATI MMC DTV program that I want to confirm
doesn't exist with MCE 2005.

Changing channel take ~5 seconds.
The first 2 to 3 seconds the screen goes black and no audio, after another 2 seconds the audio come up.
My dedicated HDTV receiver take less then half a second and leave the previous image onscreen,
making it instantaneous to people not press the channel up/down.
Actually at first this half second felt like an eternity compared to my NTSC Sony TV thats switch channel
beautifully in 1/30th of a second.

On the side I also noticed that all channels goes black often for a few frames
on pretty much all channels. I never seen this when using the HW HDTV receiver.
I have to guess this happen because the decoder couldn't decode a frame completely ?
(All the other frame shown, have no sign of any artifacts) Note: the audio never goes bad....

So, does MCE 2005 also flash black when watching HDTV, or does it keep the last good frame
when the decoder get confused?

I guess another question to MCE users while I'm at it... 1080i does not look good compared to my HDTV receiver.
It look like its half rate, and the interlacing problems are exaggerated (flickering) But 720p looks good beside drop frames.
Does 1080i program watched via the MCE interface look as good as your TV HDTV receiver?

Stephan
