I'm trying to setup a group policy on my Win2k server for our XP Pro
desktops that automatically sets up the user's I.S. Home page to our
company's Intranet site.
Going to the Group Policy User Configuration/IE Maintenance/URLs/Important
URLs Home Page Customization policy I type in the intranet site path as:
\\servername\sharename\foldername\filename - when I go to apply it I
receive the message to "Enter a valid URL". I know this path works because
when I enter iit in RUN under Start it takes me right to our intranet site.
Why will this path not work under Group Policies and what would be the
correct path to use?

It wants a full URL with a protocol.

Try file://///servername/sharename/foldername/filename.ext. That
should work for you.
