Is it possible to disable system sounds when Media Center is |
|
|
I want to disable any sounds generated by the underlying OS when Media
Center is running. I only want to hear sounds, video, music, etc. from
Media Center while it's running and not annoyed with system events, people
signing into Messenger, etc.
Is it possible to turn off sounds outside of what's occuring in Media Center
when it's running? I don't see anything under Media Center's settings that
look promising.
Thanks, |

Control Panel, Sounds and Audio Devices, Sounds tab, and select the no
sounds scheme.
Note that if new sound events are added subsequent to this "no sound" scheme
being selected, usually via installing a new program with sound events, you
may have to repeat this process.

Thanks, but I don't want "no sound scheme", as I want the sounds when Media
Center isn't running. What a hassle that would be to keep turning them back
on and off. What I'm looking for is a way that when Media Center is running
ONLY, the sounds are disabled. If it can't be done in Media Center, then
maybe there's a batch file I could use to turn off the sounds, and start
Media Center, and then when I closed Media Center, to set the sounds back on
again. If so, does someone know the registry setting I could toggle back
and forth in a batch, or better yet, someone who already has a batch file
that does it?
Thanks,
