Live TV Audio only play out of one speaker |
|
|
I have setup my mce to get it's video via svideo from my cable provider's set
top box and mce gets it's audio via an rca plug that runs from the set top
box to an 1/8 inch male plug that connects to my tv card's audio in plug.
While watching live tv or watching a recorded show, audio only plays out of
one of my speakers in my 5.1 theater setup. Why is this?
I send the audio signal from my soundcard via a 1/8th inch male plug that is
connected to my sound card via the audio out plug and connect the other end
of that line (two rca plugs) into the back of my tv. I have a 50 inch Samsung
DLP that has a pc hook up and audio in from the pc. I then have the audio
outs of my tv running to my sterio recever.
FM radio, home videos and every other source of audio that plays on my pc
sends audio to all my spakers. How can I do the same while watching live tv.
Thanks in advance foe any help.

"mce gets it's audio via an rca plug"
^^
A single RCA plug carries only one audio channel.
I'm sure your STB has a pair of these. You need
to connect them both to your TV capture card.
Are you connecting to just a single RCA jack,
or both of them?

Thanks for the prompt response. I do indeed have two audio out plugs (1 pair
of audio out plugs) on the back on the stb. One is red and the other is
white. I am connecting to both of the lugs on the stb and the plug/cord that
I am using then merges into one 1/8 male plug that goes into the my WinTV-PVR
350 via the audio in port/outlet.
Based on your reply I am guessing that I should be getting sound out of my
other speakers. At least my two front ones and hopefully my center channel as
well. Any suggestions?
Thanks
