ATI RADEON 9550SE 128MB DDR AGP8X DVI-I TVO drivers for MCE2 |
|
|
Problem: I cannot locate drivers at www.ati.com for my RADEON 9550SE
graphics card running Windows MCE 2005. This model number doesn't seem to
be recognised, so is there a generic driver, or another model's driver which
is suitable?
I am in the UK with a new PC with RADEON 9550SE graphics card and Hauppage
WinTV PVR 150MCE card. I cannot play movie DVDs, nor can I view TV signals
(or hear TV sound) in MCE2005. When I try to view Live TV, MCE2005 gives me
an error message "Decoder has malfunctioned or is not installed - please
restart MCE 2005 or restart the computer". I have restarted several times
but with no improvement.
The PC is a Shuttle SN95G5 with AMD 64 3000+ CPU.
I have downloaded the latest (November 2004) MCE 2005 drivers for the WinTV
PVR 150MCE card from www.hauppage.com, and MCE2005 seems to have detected
the channel information correctly, although perhaps this was via the
Internet connection when it gets information for the TV Guide. The TV
signal comes in analgue form through a co-axial cable. It is working
because I can get a signal on a TV from the same cable.
I suspect that I may need to check drivers and decoder software for the
Graphics card too. I am also unable to view DVDs via MCE 2005, although I
have been able to view one DVD in WinTV2000. However, after several driver
updates, WinTV2000 is no longer working.
Advice welcome, particularly on the RADEON card drivers.
Regards,
Mark. |

In case Intervideo WinDVD is bundled with your PC, then simply try
uninstalling and reinstalling the same.

AFAIK the 9550 is a cut-down 9700. The ATI Catalyst driver pack is all the same
for all their cards so you have nothing to lose by trying the 5.1 version.
You do need a supported DVD decoder such as the Nvidia one.
