The most frequent causes of the "Video Error"

1. Missing or corrupted MPEG2 codec. An MPEG2 codec is required for TV
functionality. This is usually provided by a DVD player software and comes
with MCE machines. Problems can happen if you install other codecs or DVD
software as they sometimes don't play nice with the MCE compatible codecs.
You can use the Video Decoder Checkup Utility
(http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=de1491ac-0ab6-4990-943d-627e6ade9fcb&DisplayLang=en)
to verify and set the primary (used by MCE) codec.

2. TV Tuner or video card drivers corrupted or incompatible with MCE.
Download the latest MCE-compatible drivers from the PC or card
manufacturer's web site. Sometimes the audio card driver can also be a
problem.

3. Make sure the account you are using has administrative rights to the
machine.

4. "Recorded TV" folder should not be encrypted (see
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=831274)
