DVD-RW media not working with NEC DVD-RW drive - "??"

Hi Everyone (Anyone?),

I have a desktop and laptop that have NEC DVD-RW drives. I've successfully
used CD-RW media with both drives and read DVDs. I went out an purchased a
stack of DVD-RW media and I cannot copy anything to the media. I receive a
Windows pop-up when trying to create a new folder indicating "File system
error (16389)."

Any help and/or guidance would be appreciated...

System Info:
Dell Dimension 8250
NEC DVD-RW 1100A
XP Professional SP2

Check out the NEC website for a pdf detailing the various brands of disc
that will work in your drive (It's a short list...)

AFAICR the NEC 1100A only uses DVD+R/RW If you have bought a stack of DVD-RW
then these will be useless for this drive. Given the price of DVD burners
nowadays the cheapest option is to buy a new 16x burner that does +R & -R. They
only cost about $50 & will be many times faster than your existing drive.
