Hi All,

I know this is a Microsoft group, but Symantec's Mr. Padmasumbava in India
couldn't help me. Maybe one of you can.

Got a brand new Norton SystemWorks 2005, which includes Antivirus. It
simply will not work on my XP computer. I followed the instructions to the
letter, several times through repeated install/uninstall cycles. I am 100%
certain that I purged all traces of SystemWorks 2003 from my computer before
installing 2005. Between install/uninstalls of 2005, I did the same. Even
reinstalled SP2 (twice).

The error I get is: "3029,27. Internal program error, uninstall and
reinstall Norton Antivirus."

Naturally, the discussion in the Symantec group blames XP SP2 for the
problem. I find that hard to believe, given Symantec's track record of
installation problems.

Thank you ANY help.

Your answer is at the Symantec Site, select Support and then Search,

http://search.symantec.com/custom/us/query.html

You only need enter the error information and it will lead you down the
path of salvation.

You must work for Symantec.

Their fix isn't worth a shit. I've done everything that they recommend, at
least 3 times.

Since you didn't *tell* us that you'd already done this, how could

anyone trying to help you know that? Instead, you post incomplete
information about your question, which is really OT for this newsgroup,
and then insult the person who tried to help you.

My advice to you:

Sorry, I don't work for any software vendors or hardware vendors either.
I do manage hundreds of clients that use Symantec Products and have no
problems with them. None of them have been compromised by viruses
either, but we also don't use the Suite type builds.

Sorry, I tried to help. If you could provide more info, in a polite
manner, I will see if I can assist.

Sorry that you found my remarks offensive. However, responses such as what
follows led me to honestly believe that the poster was a Symantec employee.
"You need only enter the information....." Come on...

Symantec solutions "are" worth a shit, IMHO. Every problem boils down to
uninstall/reinstall.

Your point about the Yellow Pages was well taken. Maybe you were just
being sarcastic, but it sounds like damn good advice. I'm sure someone who
sets up computers for a living has seen every problem under the sun, 10
times over. He/she could probably figure it out in a snap.
