RE: Setting Up Multiple Printer Settings |

Zach, I am not sure if you solved this problem. I had to look at my notes to
see how to do it.
I found that you need to go to Printers and Faxes on the Print Server and
click Add Printer. Choose a local printer, deselect the "Auto detect" and
then Select a Printer Port and choose Use the following port: [put in the IP
address / location of your printer]. Then select the Manufacturer and the
Printers and Keep existing driver (recommended). Obviously you want to give
it a different Shared Name and you can put in a location and or comment if
you do that at your company. Can be helpful to describe if it's Duplex
(Double Sided) or not.

am running into is some departments want a duplex setting while others do
not. I want to add another instance of the printer to 'Printers and Faxes'
with the duplexing option set to ON, so that the certian departments can set
thier default printer to that instance. I just cant seem to figure out how
to do this. I go through the Add Printer wizard and it just replaces the
current instance and wont let me change the name or the printer. The server
where all the printers are added is running Windows 2000 while the clients
are running either XP or 2000. |
