My computer Windows XP sp 2- Get this error message when trying to
import videos into Movie Maker 2: C:\Documents and
Settings\test\Desktop\film.wmv could not be imported. Unspecified error.
When I close Movie Maker and reopen it, video's show in collection pane,
but cannot insert in storyline.

Does the wmv file play OK in your Windows Media Player?

I have the same problem - I can't import any files even .jpg files, I don't
know what causes it but I'd love to find solution. Did anybody have similiar
problem? Maybe somebody knows a solution to it?
Dyzio :-)

timeline.
I have MCE and i had converted the files in different format ( avi, mpeg, wmv
etc )
but stil it can't be imported the same thing with audio and pictures....i
also putted extra addons in. ( thougt maybe it overwrites some moviemaker
files, but it also didn't worked......%$%$ )

Exactly this problem.

Computer only a few weeks old. Everything working pretty well. Fast.
Can't import anything into WMM. Unspecified error. Closing and then
reopening shows clips available but they cannot be transferred to timeline.

No-one seems to know the answer. As one of the main reasons for getting a
new computer was to be able to edit clips this is incredibly tiresome.

What on earth is the problem? And why does Microsoft have nothing to say on
it?

Did you try system restore then?
Why not take the pc back to the shop, they sold it to you to perform the job
you want, it is up to them to make sure it does. We can only guess at
solutions being so remote, they can actually bench the pc and sort it.

I would have been back there straight away, I suggest you get there 9am
monday morning.
