SyncToy keeps resyncing unchanged files when going to a netw |
|
|
Basically I have my network share as my right folder and I am using echo. But
when I resync it recopies my bigest files again. Which is exactly what i was
trying to avoid. This does not seem to happen when syncing to a Local drive.
Note I want to use sync toy to sync to my NAS and my Firewire HD so I have 2
syncs setup for each folder. |

Hi Jim,
Can you tell me whether the last modified file dates appear the same between
the NAS copy of the file and the local copy? All the way down the seconds.
We found an issue with the beta that didn't account for the differences in
the way time was stored between FAT filesystems and NTFS filesystems.

Note the files existed on the PC first I used SyncToy to Echo the files to
the NAS. I dont understand why the nas Create date is the same as its
modified date.

Jim,
This happens because the NAS device doesn't store time with the same
resolution as NTFS. We've added some support for "soft datetime comparison"
in V1, so this shouldn't be an issue any longer.
I hope this helps...

It is still an issue when i synchronize between ntfs and USB key after
changing to daylight saving time.
Modified time on USB key is 1 hour off. If i synchronize files, then issue
goes away (but probably only until daylight saving time will be off).

We'll look into that AlYsa. I can't promise that we'll post a fix, but we'll
take a look.

Daylight savings affected all my file replications. It seems that if you all
were to operate off of pure GMT, that time zone changes and daylight savings
changes would not be affected.
