copy paste fails: not enough memory |
|
|
Unable to copy more than 1 jpeg at a time from camera via USB port on
Windows XP Home with 256mb. The copy eventually works, I just cannot select
more than 1 at a time. The jpegs average 1.2mb each.
If I take the memory chip out of the camera and put it into a memory adapter
on another computer, with Windows XP Pro and 512mb the copy / paste
operation works perfectly. Except for the extra memory and "pro" both of
these systems are recent Dells and very similar. The "home" with 256mb
cannot seem to to a paste when one "selects all".
I brought up the task manager and there didnt appear to be anything unusual
with 64mb of available memory on the "home" system. I have never seen this
before were the copy and paste fails for subsequently files. ie: The
first paste the first file gets copied o.k. and the memory error message
pops up when the 2nd attemps to be pasted. A second "paste" i click "no" to
replace the existing first file, the 2nd file then gets copied o.k. then on
the 3rd file that "not enough memory" error shows up. I switched the view
from thumbnail to detail and terminated every program that I didnt need to
no avail. There is plenty of memory available???? |

Running XP on 256 mb is bare bones when it comes to photo files. Increase to
512 mb and you will have no problem.
