I tried copying some custom profiles I've used in Movie Maker 2 into
the profile directory for Photo Story 3 (where all the default ones
exist)

The problem is that when I load up PS3, I still only see the default
profiles.

Am I missing something?

The PS3 profiles are different than those for MM2... check the PS3 section
of my website.
