No a good idea to delete photo files on your memory stick with your computer
and yes Sony does this to prevent the loss of pictures. We get too many
"lost pictures" questions here, take it from us, do it the safe way.
Copy the pictures to your hard drive, check that they are really there, copy
them to a CD, check that they are really there. Then, and only then, delete
them from your camera.
In your camera, you go to File and Format. This will erase all the pictures
on your memory stick and prepare it for new pictures.

photos on the memory stick via my computer. I have always used the Scanner
and Camera Wizard which has an option to delete the files after they are
copied. This is grayed out. I tried deleting them via the Explorer window
as
well. It seems that you can only delete the photos off of the memory stick
by
using the camera. Does anyone know if there is a way to delete the photos
off
of the memory stick by using the computer?
