I'm using Windows XP professional, connected to the internet via a LAN
network using a broadband connection. Quite often, I get disconnected from
the network (after being logged in for some hours), although the LED
indicator on my router indicates that the router is talking to the network
providers server.

Restarting my computer, or restarting the router separately does not help.
The only thing that helps is to shut down the system entirely, and then
restart.

Is this a Router problem, or is it my XP network configuration that is
invalid?

The network is set up to connect to the router (fully automated, unspecified
local IP adress, etc ...), which talks with the network providers server, so
I believe that my problem lies in the communication between my computer and
the local "desktop" router.
