Cannot turn off Ping |
|
|
I have XP Home, using ICS and ICF. The ICF Advanced settings have ICMP Allow
Oncoming Echo Request (Ping) enabled and I cannot find a way to disable it.
I read in another post that if file and print sharing is enabled that you
cannot turn ping reply off. I have two network cards in my system - one for
internet access and the other to connect my second PC that sits behind the
internet connect machine. I do not have file and print sharing on on the
internet connection but I do have it on on the second network card to allow
my second machine to access the first machines printers, which are shared
out. I have tried disabling file and print sharing on the second card but
the echo return flag is still set and cannot be changed to off. This problem
has only surfaced (or has become apparent) since I upgrade to SP2. I have
searched through the registry but cannot find any settings there to disble
ping responses. Any help is most welcome. Thanks. |
