Hello,
Has anyone an explanation for the error message "Cannot copy ... path is too
deep" when transferring files from one machine to another (distant) using a
mapped disk on the distant machine ?

I guess there are two reasons:

1. The file name (including path) is more than 256 characters.
2. The file name (including path) contains unusual characters unsupported by
the other computer.

Try to use a simpler file name directly under root to see whether the
problem is solved or not.

Martin.

Dear Martin,

Thank you for the suggestion. The nam of the file was indeed quite long.
I'll try next time but eventually the problem was solved by restarting the
computer. Perhaps this is due to a buffer that got filled up from a previous
disk mapping and which was not flushed properly. Does that seem logical to
you ?

Regards,

Paul
