I have some web pages with midis playing in the background and they have quit
playing on my computer, but they play as usual on other computers. I can play
them manually from my files, but when I go to my web page there is no music.
I have tried re uploading my files but they still won't play on my computer.
All other sounds and music play. This link leads to one with patriotic midi's
if you care to see what I mean. http://val199.tripod.com/Remember/

Any help appreciated.

Your recommended website is excellent with a very nice background MIDI.
Your first place to start troubleshooting is to rightclick the sound icon,
bottom
righthand corner of screen, probably next to clock, and open volume control.
Now check under MIDI and see if the Mute box is checked. If it is, uncheck it
and also check the volume slider that it is at least half way up, that
should solve your problem. If not, repost.

I had previously tried all the settings listed there, however ther is no Midi
listed. The only mute settings are for, Master volume, Wave, SW Synth,
CD/Video in, and Line in. Another odd thing about this situation. I received
a birthday card last week containing music and it played great on my
computer, but when I sent a reply with music, it would not play on my
computer.

Open the volume control again, top left click options and then click
Advanced Controls, that should add the MIDI control.

The advanced controls tab is grayed out on mine. What next?

Aha...you do not have all the drivers installed for your soundcard. Check
your disks that came with your puter. There should be one for either
utilities or sound. Then open the Control Panel/Sounds and Audio and
click the hardware tab>Properties button>driver tab
There you can update the drivers either from the disks or by going on
the Net to check for updated drivers.

Thanks Byte, but I am running an HP 753n with XP Home addition. no disks
came with my computer, all recovery is partitioned into a separate drive. The
restore to a previous point will not help me and I don't want to run a full
recovery at this time. Perhaps after the Holidays I will start over. Thanks
for all your help. ...Val...
