| Quote: | Hi. I am about to install the WinXP Fax service and wanted to ask if
there were any warnings or suggestions from the group before I spring for
it.
My first concern is what happens to the external fax machine at a
different location but on the same phone line as my fax modem. Does the
WinXP take precedence or what......
|
WinXP can only take precedence on receive by setting the number of rings
required for it to answer; the device set to answer on a lower number of
rings will take the call. When sending with WinXP, there is a very good
chance the external Fax machine will print the outgoing Fax; about the only
way to prevent this is to use a different phone line with WinXP than the one
plugged into the external machine.

that includes SP 1 and my operating system from the Dell Recovery CD in
case that would affect the use of the Fax. Thanks for your time. deango |
