How do I install licensed product over eval product? |
|
|
A few month back I downloaded an evaluation copy of XPe. I believe it was
due to 'expire' in 90 days (any day now). Since then, I bought a licensed
copy from MS. I want to put the licensed copy on the machine that has the
evaluation copy. Do I first have to uninstall the evaluation copy? (I would
rather not) When I tried to install the licensed copy, it returned almost
immediately because it found the files already in existence. I just don't
want to come in one day and find my system locked out due to the expiration.

Hi Hanley,
You must uninstall both eval tools and eval database and install it from scratch :-(

Do yourself a favor,
Rebuild your project if you have one working, then save the output text to a
file.
This will give you a list of the components you need when you rebuild
everything from scratch.
Now, if there was a way to save all the changes you make to the components
settings.
I ended up installing TD full onto another computer. I then referenced the
old computer when I had a question about how I had the project set up. It
was well worth the cost of upgrading to a new PC. Save yourself some time
and set up TD full on a fast PC. I ended up keeping the old PC to do work
and use a KVM to swith to the TD PC. I can run the builds and such and do
work on the other PC. It has really been good to make the TD PC dedicated.
