I've installed a MPEG-2 codec but still cannot save my movie to my Sony
DCR-TRV250. PC and Sony seem to communicate over the 1394 cable fine. Tape
counter runs and the REC icon is displayed. Nothing winds up on the tape.

Help

Would you explain your setup a bit more.... an MPEG-2 codec isn't needed to
save a movie in Movie Make to a digital camcorder....

Sony DCR-TRV250 connected to PC with 1394 cable and PCMCIA card. PC running
XP Home- no SP2. Movie Maker 2.0. Can import video from TRV250 to MM just
fine. Can edit and add a title just fine. Can Save to Computer just fine.
Cannot save to DV Camera even though PC starts the camera and the REC icon
is displayed. There is nothing on the tape. From your website Papajohn is
something about Sony recording in MPEG-2 and Microsoft not having rights to
MPEG-2 CODEC.

The note probably has to do with MPEG2 when it's connected by USB.... with
firewire it's a direct copying of DV-AVI file info.

On my Sony I had to go into the menu of the camcorder and enable DV-IN for
it to flow in that direction.... I'm assuming you haven't been able to get
to work yet; it's not like it's been working fine and suddenly stopped.

Another thing is the camcorder being in VCR/VTR mode, not record mode....
and you can try copying a saved DV-AVI file from your hard drive to the
camcorder using the WinDV utility (link on my Digital Camcorders > Intro
page.

When connected to PC the Sony LCD screen shows DV IN. Camera is set to VCR
mode. BTW, WinDV didn't put anything on tape. WinDV shows Video Rec as
Microsoft DV Camera and VCR. Is there a way to Show my Sony Camcorder?
