I have an anolog controler with 8mm tape. I put it on the computer
using the A/V inputs. I get video, but there is no sound. I have version 5.1
with service pack 2. What should I do to get the audio to work right.
Thank to whoever replys.

I had the same problem with my Sony 8 mm video camera and MS movie maker
software using composite cables. I could capture the video fine, without any
problems, but whatever I tried the audio would not come across. Tech support
at HP suggested I try using the InterVideo WIN DVD software, which also came
with my new computer, to capture audio and video onto my hard disk. That
works fine, audio and video come across great and the files can be edited
using MS movie maker. I was told that there was some sort of incompatibility
with some cameras.

Hope this helps, good luck.

I'm having the same issues trying to pull video from VHS tapes. Deck is
hooked up to S-video and analog audio. MM sees the video, but there is no
audio. I also switched to the InterVideo WinDVD and it captured both audio
and video as an mpg file, but now MM won't read it. When I open the mpg
file in MM I can get the audio, but no video! HP (my PC is a Media Center)
hasn't found a fix and there are a dozen posts on this board with the same
problem - no audio on MM imports.

My multi media PC apparently can only do one media at a time - sound or
video. It's a unimedia.

If you hadn't said that you were able to successfully
get audio without the video, I would have recommended
checking your Windows audio mixer settings, to insure
that the line-in input was enabled, and at a sufficiently
high input level.
