In win XP Pro there are a large amount of compressed files in the disk
cleanup utility.
If I delete these ,am I deleting the actual files or not.I can't
remmeber what the info on these files were. The believe it said that
deleting this does not delete the file.
The compression is set at 50 days for unused files.
How do I turn off this option as there is a large disk drive and
compression is not needed.

Hi Joe,

You are not actually deleting the files. The disk cleanup utility just compresses the files that
have not been used for a set number of days.

You can compress them and you won't lose them. Once you've done it,
compressed files' names will turn blue.

If you have quite a bit of them, it will take awhile to compress ...
