I have several Windows XP Pro machines on a 2003 AD Domain that all seem to
have problems during login in the mornings. They all want to take forever
while "applying personal settings" and "applying security policy" has anyone
ever run into this and what did you do to fix it??

I have disabled all policies on the domain to see if maybe one of them was
slowing things down but that hasn't helped.

Thanks,
Mark

All seem to have problems during login in the mornings? And what about the rest of
the times. Could be heavy traffic at the time.

Ensure that you have good DNS name resolution in your environment.
All Windows XP clients should point to an internal DNS server that is
authoritative for the domain.

If that is OK, then you might want to enable UserEnv logging
and take a network trace to see where the delay is:

No not everyone... Just a few people and I don't think it is traffic based
because I am having a problem with one right now that is doing it.

It seems to be selective and it seems to also be non selective in the PC..
this morning I had 2 XPs and 3 2000 systems doing it and yesterday I had 3
XPs and 2 2000 machines ALL DIFFERENT. ????? I am lost!!!!

morning. So if not then follow Care's advice

OK that policy seemed to work on the individual workstation that was doing it
every time.... How can I edit that policy on all 85 workstations without
going to every one of them??? Can anyone help with that??

Thanks in advance,
Mark
