Win XP pro
I created a user profile for testing purposes and then deleted it using
control panel. The profile no longer appears on the "welcome" screen,
but its folders are still on the hdd under "Documents and Settings." I
assume its OK to manually delete these folders/files ...?

Yes it's OK. (When you delete a user there is normally a prompt asking
whether to delete all user files also. If you say No it will keep the user
folder tree under "Documents and Settings.")

Only if you delete the user using the Control panel User Accounts tool,
not if you delete a user using the Management console.

Thanks. The user did specify having used Control Panel in this case, but
the point is well taken. My generalized statement could be misleading.
