Evert time I plug in a hard drive to a USB port, XP scans every volume
(partition) and then puts uf a dialog box asking me what I want it to do.
For a drive with 3 volumes, I end up clicking "cancel" 6 times.

I always want the same thing to happen: NOTHING. I would just like the
drive to be there like any other disk.

Are there any settings I can use to prevent the auto scanning of the drive,
etc.?

Many thanks.

Hi,

Thank you for posting here.

From your post my understanding of this issue is: You want to disable
AutoPlay of your USB HDD. If this is not correct, please feel free to let
me know.

To solve this issue, please follow the steps bellow:

1. After you have a USB device connected, right-click it and select the
¡°Properties¡±.

2. Select the ¡°Auto Play¡± tab.

3. On the ¡°Action¡± pane, make sure your selection should be ¡°Take no
action¡±.

4. Click the little triangle above the ¡°Action¡± Pane to select different
file types.

5. Make sure that each file type¡¯s ¡°Action¡± should be ¡°Take no action¡±.

I hope that the above information can be of assistance. Thanks for using

Best regards,

Vincent Xu
