directory of registry files in windows xp |

Where are saved the files that contain registry's keys of windows xp?
My hard disc is so partitionaded:
2 part. boot/system (C1 and C2)
1 part. documents (Z)
I use XOSL boot manager to choose to boot C1 or C2. One use for test,
other for work.
When test partition is too dirty, I use Norton Ghost to reset the
situation.
Problem is that some installation programs installaded on C2 show
effects on C1. And this is not good....
In my opinion, some registry keys are resident on Z partition, but I'd
want identify that keys, so I can understand how it works and what can
I do to solve.

If you use XOSL then you should ensure that the two operating
system partitions are hidden from each other. When you do this
then there will be no interference at all from one to the other.
You must also make sure that c:\boot.ini points at the correct
partition in each case. In other words, one version of boot.ini
must read
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS and the other
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS
If they are the same then your two operating systems are mixed up.
Some of your registry files reside in c:\Windows\system32\config.
Others reside in "c:\documents and settings\Gianluca". They are
usually hidden. I would recommend you leave them alone - it
will be sufficient for you to set the XOSL parameters and the
boot.ini files correctly to achieve total separation. |

Thanks Pegasus, that's the correct way. Setting so boot.ini file, the
system works correctly.
