When I click start then search my computer freezes and I have to restart the
computer. I Re-installed windows xp pro and I still have the same problem.
Any help on getting the search to work again would be greatly appreciated!

Searching for what and where? That is, a file on the hard
drive or a website or a remote server? |

I re-installed windows xp pro and went to the site you gave us and I still
have the same problem. I downloaded AGENT RANSACK to use to search my
computer untill someone can come up with a fix for the windows search
problem. Is sounds like a lot of other people have the same problem. Why
doesn't Microsoft do anything about it??????

You reinstalled how? A clean format and install or a repair install?
Have you checked your system for malware using a combination of programs
doing the scans in safe mode? I would say that most people are not
having this problem which would indicate it's unique to those individual
set ups and not a systematic problem with search in XP. Hence there is
nothing for MS to fix.

I did a repair install. and I have done spyware checks and its ok I use
AGENT RANSAK to search my computer now and it works fine. I do believe many
people have this problem with search or why would you send them to a site
that addresses search problems? Maybe I'm crazy but I think Microsoft could
do much better with there support! I had a problem a couple of weeks a go
getting updates and went to Microsoft and found no answers. I found the fix
here on one of the boards. What does that tell you about microsoft?
Thanks anyway. Maybe someone else will come up with a fix. |
