I am trying to connect a canon optura camcorder using a firewire pc card. I
have an XP pro operating system on my notebook and it does not recognize the
camcorder. It does recognize the firewire PC card. A friend used the same
firewire pc card, cable and camera and his computer did recognize it. The
difference between us is that he has the XP home and I have XP pro. What
should I do to allow the computer to recognize the camcorder?

Check the camera manufacturer's website for the latest XP compatible
drivers. If that fails to resolve it, please take this to the
windowsxp.moviemaker newsgroup.
