Windows XP SP2 NTFS event id 55 problem |
|
|
I use a system with motherboard IWILL KK 266 - (chipset VIA KT133A VIAC686B
southbridge) - motherboard IDE controllers are ATA 100
3 DIMM SDRAM 256 MB PC 133 - so that the system has 786 MB memory
ATX power source 300W
1 HDD Maxtor Diamond Plus 9 ata 133 7200rpm 2 MB buffer master on primary
ide channel- Windows XP SP2 operating system
1 HDD Seagate 7200rpm ata 100 8 MB Buffer master on secondary ide channel
1 CDROM Sony CDU 5221 0.30 firmware slave on secondary ide channel
The system was very stable - for 3 years I didn't have a problem
2 weeks ago one old HDD Maxtor 30GB had bad sectors and I replace this hdd
with the above Seagate.
Now the operating system is on the Maxtor 80 GB HDD.
Every day the messageEvent ID 55 "The file system structure is corrupt and
unusable.Run chkdsk" appears.
After running chkdsk , only minor NTFS index problems and everything is OK.
The Hard-discs are OK - verified on other workstations and also verified the
SMART parameters with Speed Fan from www.almico.com and HDD Health from
www.panterasoft.com ; also verified with the powermax application from Maxtor.
The memory is verified withmemtest32 and docmem from www.simmtester.com
The problem appears and after letting the Seagate HDD alone on secondary
channel
also the problem appears after switching the IDE 80 pin ATA 100 cables
There is NO strange noise from HDD's or from power ATX source .
The problem appears and after setting in Bios - Load fail safe defaults or
Load optimized defaults .
The problem appears and after installing VIA DRIVERS 4.34 - the last for KT
133 A chipset motherboards.
BUT IF ON THE SYSTEM I WORK ONLY WITH BROWSER AND MSOFFICE THERE IS NO ERROR
!!!.
ONLY WHEN I TRY TO MAKE DEFRAG - with windows defragmenter or ANTIVIRUS
SCAN And THE SYSTEM ACCESSES MORE FILES THE ERROR APPEARS!!!???
tHERE MIGHT BE A IDE CONTROLLER ON THE MOTHERBOARD OR SP2 PROBLEM??
tHE SYSTEM IS VERY FAST AND WITH NO PROBLEMAS AT BOOTING OR BROWSING OR
USING OFFICE .
tHE SYSTEM IS VERIFIED WITH 2 ANTIVIRUSES( THEY ARE NOT INSTALLED
SIMULTANEOUSLY ON THE SYSTEM !) AND THE SYSTEM WAS INSTALLED 2 WEEKS AGO.
Thank You,
Ovidiu Pismac
